The Cheese #69 🧀 - 905k YouTube, Bad Sales Emails are Back, and eBay Live (Finally)
I want my YouTube Gold Plaque and I know this is pure vanity at this point.
Short Week, Loud Numbers
Short week with Memorial Day, but we still made it count. Last week we crossed 900k YouTube subs, and we're sitting at 905k now. Had a few shorts all firing at the same time, and the momentum is real. Still chasing 1M by the end of the year. At this point, I know the algos have turned the subscriber count into more of a vanity metric than anything else, but I want my YouTube Gold Plaque lol.
May ends on Sunday, and everything is set up nicely. We haven't officially broken the Whatnot record yet, but we've got 3 shows scheduled today, 4 on Saturday, and 3 on Sunday. Forecasting tool still has us north of $345k on Whatnot, and we only need $337k to beat March. The rest of the business (website, membership, Amazon) is all running well too. No records anywhere else, but every channel is going to land in a great spot. May should end up being our 5th or 6th best month ever, which I'll take all day.
Because of performance, we'll be down a host on Whatnot going into June, but we already have a replacement teed up to start within a couple of weeks. The lost revenue from that host coming off the schedule isn't material, so June is still set up nicely. We ran another TikTok Live test midday this week, and it was not very impressive. Noticeable drop from the evening test we ran, and not in a good direction. We'll run a few more before deciding what the cadence on TikTok should be, if anything. eBay Live finally has a solve. We're having to duplicate our Shopify PDPs to make it work, which is WILD, but it seems to be the only path. Should get a test or two in during June.
Last week was Brandon on the AI front; this week, it's Chuck. He's building some really cool automations and prospecting workflows on the B2B side. Fun fact: HubSpot has an MCP for Claude. The PDP automation, though? Still hasn't happened. Pretty disappointed I haven't been able to block off the time to knock it out. Today is the goal. We'll see.
Next week we've got our BattlGames pitch with one of the largest networks out there. Pretty fired up about that one. Blade Show Atlanta is also next weekend, and I'm headed down to meet the team there on Friday. Should be a fun day.
Oh, and Monday I was planning to actually work (I love a work day with zero distractions). Colleen got a 6-patient opportunity drop in her lap, so Johnny and I had a hangout day instead. Will never complain about that outcome.
Let's get into the rest!
Lhea on Tupperware
Lhea dropped a great one yesterday on Tupperware. Iconic product, cultural phenomenon, and the same thing that built them is what killed them. Sharp operator read.
BAD SALES EMAIL posts are back
I came up with a new process for the bad sales email teardowns. Mark them as they come in, stack them up, then knock out a whole batch on Saturday morning. Process is officially humming again. Here's one of the latest.

BattlGames Season 3 sponsorships
Quick reminder. We're filming BattlGames Season 3 in Athens, GA, in September. Still have a few sponsorship spots open. If you want the deck, just reply to this email.

Winning, on-brand ads—without endless prompting
Most AI creative tools fall short for one simple reason. You can generate tons of ads, but they aren’t up to par.
Refining copy, adjusting layouts, or nudging a CTA into place shouldn’t require rewriting prompts over and over. It slows teams down and breaks the creative process.
With Hightouch Ad Studio, AI gets you 90% of the way there. For the final 10%, use a built-in editor to quickly refine copy and design, or export directly to Figma for seamless collaboration with your design team.
Move faster without losing control. Every ad, exactly how you want it.
