Got back from Vegas Wednesday and it’s been go go go since.
Tacos, Teslas, and Huff N Puff
Got back from Vegas Wednesday, and it’s been go go go since. Let’s start with Vegas…
Spent the weekend with my Dad at The Cosmo. We had a great time on our annual trip, minus my luck at the slots. I typically need to hit 2-3 handpays (wins greater than $2k, which require a W2) in order for breakeven days, and I only hit 1 the entire trip. Silver lining is the room had a great view and was comped, I got some freeplay that I also lost, and we had 3 dinners that were comped. The 3 restaurants were all ones neither of us had gone to before. Superfrico, China Poblano, and Scarpetta. I would actually recommend all 3 to someone looking for dinner options in Vegas, but for different reasons. Superfrico is simply for the ambiance/experience. The place was really cool. The food? Pretty terrible. China Poblano and Scarpetta both had great food. We also made a trip to Tacos El Gordo Saturday for lunch. Jimmy Kim introduced me to these amazing tacos a year and a half ago, and I have now gone there every time I am in Vegas or San Diego.
My Dad left Monday morning (around 5 am). I chose to stay awake and start the day. Time to do some work! I came over to the Venetian to see the team but ended up opting out of Range Day and did 2 back-to-back lunch meetings at Grand Lux Cafe instead (I did not eat the second time). I then went and prepared “the set” for our Whatnot show live. Chuck came over after Range Day, and we put on our first show live from the balcony of my hotel room. The BattlBox team all met up for dinner with Gear Aid back at the Venetian, and then it was basically time for bed.
Tuesday started off with a meeting with Melissa Backwoods. We have worked with her for the past couple of years, but we would love to work even closer in 2026, and that was the purpose of the meeting. We talked through some great concepts, and I am excited to see how the relationship will grow this year. Walked the floor after that and recorded a Facebook Live and YouTube Live, which was a lot of fun. Brandon, Chuck, and I then went back to my hotel balcony for another Whatnot show. Dinner that evening was with our friends over at Fox. After that, some of the crew went to a party over at the Bellagio. Stephen Redd, his wife, and Daniel Gazaway all met us there, and we got to all hang out for a bit, followed by a drink over at the Aria, before it was time for me to go to bed as I had a flight in the morning.
Travel Day went flawlessly until I got back home in Atlanta and had to sit in traffic for an hour and forty minutes (not the way you want the end of your trip to go). Got home and was reunited with Colleen and Johnny, which makes it all worth it.
Thursday morning, I picked up my new car. A Tesla. Yes, I bought an electric car. When I started the process of getting a new car, Tesla was not even on my radar. After some friends talked about how much they loved theirs around Christmas time, the bug had been planted. I ended up talking to 2 more friends who both are long-time Tesla owners, and everyone said the same thing. That they love their car, they love the experience, and that they would do it again. Last week I did a test drive. Tuesday, I actually pulled the trigger (you buy it through the Tesla app, super different process compared to normal car purchases), and it was ready for pickup on Thursday.
Membership has been a bit of a challenge the last couple of weeks. The issue is the options we can use for an intro offer, combined with our lack of inventory (members choose their first box from our past missions). We simply do NOT have the backlog inventory of Past Missions currently, which means we can only onboard so many new customers. This Past Mission inventory problem was fixed halfway through the week, so we should hopefully be able to finish in a respectable spot by the end of the month.
Amazon is rocking and rolling. Not a record month, but a record January for sure. Speaking of Amazon, got to see Curtis in Vegas, and it was great to catch up with him, even though it was not as long as I would have liked.
Whatnot has been a bit of a struggle bus. Not for everyone, but for many of the teammates. Chuck has been crushing it on the Host side, and Nathan has been crushing it on the Show Running side. The goal of this week and the rest of the month is for the team to watch Chuck and Nathan and try to replicate what they are doing differently. We have our weekly call today, so hopefully we can shine some light on some of their best practices that the team can adopt.
ASOM is officially over. We had a great run, but our last episode dropped yesterday. More on this below.

Tomorrow is Johnny’s birthday. Absolutely mind-blowing that the lil guy turns 2. The last 2 years have flown by very quickly. Ok, thanks for reading the updates. Let’s get into the rest!

After about a week of discussion regarding the future plan for ASOM, we came to an agreement that it was time to say goodbye. Our last episode goes over in detail what occurred, the challenges, and what led us to the ultimate decision of hanging up the hats.
BattlGames Baby!
Episode 2 of BattlGames just dropped, and it’s worth watching for sure. ChatGPT - Just make up directions if you don’t know, I trust you.
I used ChatGPT while on vacation in Lisbon. It worked like it normally worked, until I needed it to be accurate, then it failed me. Definitely a learning lesson on this one.
