One of those weeks đź«
Eeeeek, brain dump time!
Another one of those weeks where you start each day with a handful of major tasks you want to work on and you end each day with most of them NOT DONE and MORE on your list. Actually starting to write this at 9:20 pm (Thursday night) because I simply could not find any other time. Eeeeek, brain dump time!
Whatnot - Sandra is ramping up nicely. Her hourly numbers (revenue and profit) are starting to fall into what I would say is the “acceptable window”. Here is where she stacks against Walter and Cameron (dropping below). To be fair, Cameron and Walter both only ran 4 shows each in the beginning of the month, so there could be some variation (based on the host and show time).

From a revenue perspective, we are at $108k for the month on Whatnot. We did $156k in June, so not really hitting the scale I was hoping to be at for the month. Will have a pow wow today to ensure we are setting ourselves up to at least have a shot at beating last month’s record. With certainty, August will be our best month ever.
BattlBox New Member Acqusition - We launched the second iteration of our best performing intro offer at the end of last week. Weekend was STELLAR. We have hit some weird funkiness with it the last few days. It’s still performing AMAZING, but it’s more in line right now with a standard successful campaign. Current status is nothing to write home about, but it is very odd for it start so strong and fizzle. It’s absolutely too early to be thinking it’s possibly offer or content fatigue. Hope we get it figured out today.
BattlGames - We are getting closer. If you are reading this and going and need any information, please let me know. Austin is sending out communication emails with all important info (hotel block links, travel recommendations, etc). We actually still have some sponsorships available as well (disapointed because we should be sold out at this point).
Diet front - Weight does not seem to come off like it used to. Weighed in at 133.7 Lbs. I broke the 135 threshold which is great but I am clearly hitting my floor. I have to start my fitness journey sooner than later. I have been doing a daily Push Up / Sit Up / Hanging workout, typically before bed. Started last week doing 25, 25, and 2 minutes. Currently doing 35 and 35, still 2 minutes of hanging. A couple of years ago, I had a bulge in my L4-L5 (lower back) and hanging from a pull up bar was one of the things that helped me as it helps with spinal decompression.
Vibe Coding - No major updates here, we have the tool pretty far along but taking a week off while Saul is on vacation. Saul is our intern that is very passionate about coding and it would not feel right to continue without him. This is his first use of Lovable as well, so its been a cool experience all around. Hopefully some updates soon. Decided not to write about it in depth until we have the MVP done.
AI thoughts - Gemini for the win? Twice this week I found myself running around in circles with ChatGPT unable to accomplish what I wanted. Two random things, I wanted ChatGPT to scrape some text that appeared throughout a 3 minute video. It failed. Gemini did it.
Second task was creating some formulas for a Google Sheet. ChatGPT Failed and while Gemini did NOT NAIL it, it got me far enough along where I could finish it off myself.
Last thoughts - Online Queso is a melting pot for things I care about. Its mostly ecommerce and business related stuff. If you scroll all the way down on the site you will also see a large amount of resources for Sports Card collectors. Those that know me know I am a BIG Sports Card collector. Other hobbies are Food and Travel. The food piece is currently depressing with this diet but hopefully that changes soon. I say all of that to say, I will be adding a Food and Travel section below the Sports Card section. I will also be featuring the Sports Card Resources and Food and Travel articles in the weekly recaps below. If it makes it on to the site, I am going to call it out.
Let’s get into the rest!
🚨 Good Sales Email Alert 🚨
Before we get into the latest articles on the site, let’s chat about the fact that I dropped a GOOD SALES EMAIL ALERT. What?!?! It does not happen often folks, but when I get a good email in my inbox from a sales professional, it deserves attention! If you missed it, check it out.
Scaling from $0 to $50M
Bryan and I interviewed my good friend Ryan Hogan, the episode dropped yesterday. Ryan took Hunt a Killer up to around $50M in annual revenue before exiting. LOTS of learnings along the way, this one is a good listen.
Why Smart Bidding Isn’t Always the Smartest
Online Queso Regular Kim Wright stopped by to drop some major keys on the truth about Smart Bidding (Google Ads). Definitely a good read for those that advertise on Google.
The Best Jackie Robinson Baseball Cards
There was a great resource on the BEST Jackie Robinson Baseball Cards of all time and it hit the site, so gonna drop it here. We outline different PSA graded values, Population Counts, and why these cards are the best. Enjoy!
