The Cheese #26 🧀 - Vibe Coding, Whatnot Scaling, AnimALL Launch, and a Michelin Star
So I am pretty much a coding expert now...
It’s Moving Week!
I am not sure what means or why I said it, but I do have a lot of stuff moving along. Speaking of moving, super pumped for our VP of Marketing, Walter. As you are reading this, he is hopefully closing on his first home purchase! An exciting chapter in one’s life, but nobody likes what comes next… actually moving. Moving is the worst! Oh, maybe that’s why I said it’s Moving Week…
Let’s unpack the wildness in my head right now…
First up, you guessed it… Whatnot! This is Sandra’s (our new full-time Showrunner) first week running shows solo. Nice to see her ramping and learning. Excited to see if she can execute said learnings. Things are moving along for this chapter in our scale. Excited if everything is humming along come the end of the month. If it does, then we add more chaos. Next piece of chaos will be our 5th host. This will likely mean we will need existing team members to show run a couple of shows (since Sandra will be maxed out), and we will need to determine if hiring a second full time Showrunner makes sense (and if we can scale to that many shows a week). One of our pain points currently is our show creation, inventory management by hosts, and tracking certain KPIs on Whatnot. So, how do we fix this? Well, let’s transition into the next paragraph…
Vibe Coding. We just had our first Vibe Coding session. We used Lovable and carved out 3 hours for the initial session. The goal was to build a program that can streamline our Whatnot pain points (currently managed via a Google Sheet with over 100 tabs currently). I have never coded before. The other 3 team members that joined me for this project, 1 actually has coded, the other 2 are in the same boat as me. After 3 hours, we had about 45% of the tool built. Lots of learnings and doubt it would take 3 hours for that much output next time. I spent another hour after that solo, fixing some of the stuff in the initially builded stuff and adding some small things. It’s about 50% done now. Saul is gonna attempt to knock out the back half this weekend. I will dig into this whole vibe coding thing a bit on LinkedIn and likely write a couple of articles about it as well.
We just relaunched a variation of our BattlBox introduction offer that had amazing CACs a couple of months ago. We had to end it because we ran out of the intro offer (it was a really nice bag), but are relaunching with the same offer (but communicated that the bag might vary and we give a few examples of bags you might get). This allows us to run this longer since it allows us to use multiple bags from our existing inventory. We JUST launched the new campaign (yesterday afternoon), but all signs are indicating this is a BANGER.
Also, only 2 weeks away from the launch of my wife’s business: AnimALL Mobile Veterinary Service. I am super proud of her for not only taking this to the finish line but also the concept. I love when a solution actually solves a problem! If you are in Atlanta, and you have pets, you should absolutely check it out.
On the diet front, I have behaved since the Sunday night Michelin Star birthday dinner for Colleen. 10 course (technically 14 dishes were served) experience that was very impressive and I completely understand why they have a star. Colleen opted for the Non-Alcoholic Pairing which included a mix of mocktails and zero proof wines (one for each course) and I was jealous that I did not opt to do the same. I tried a few and it was wild how well they were paired with the dishes. She got a lot of pictures and I am probably going to throw it up on Online Queso. But even with behaving this week, it took the whole week to get back down to 135. I am not planning on have any carbs for the next week so hopefully I can crack a new record low.
Let’s get into the rest...
Scaling in the Age of AI
Speaking of Vibe Coding, this guy is doing just that and letting us follow along his journey (scroll down to where he starts and then scroll up). Quite the emotional roller coaster and semi entertaining.
Marketing Outruns Operations
Last week, I had a random bad Amazon experience post get some pretty insane views. My favorite part (besides the views) was the back and forth with this gentleman.
