The Cheese #16 🧀
Back on the grind
Week after Commerce Roundtable (CR) Miami and I am still trying to catch back up lol.
I still cannot get over what an amazing experience I had in Miami and feel so fortunate to be a part of it. What Jimmy + Co is doing with CR is special and I cannot wait until San Diego in September.
We are now 4 LIVE Whatnot shows in when I type this. Show #4 went well but it did NOT outperform #2 and #3. We are thinking we could be hitting some product fatigue (we have only featured 71 products in total among the 4 shows so have obviously gone through all of them multiple times). Going to be adding some new products as well as testing a new time of show to see if those variables can make a difference. Regardless, after 4 shows we are sitting at $19,774 in revenue which absolutely means we can scale this to a 7 figure sales channel for us.
On the Keto front, I had some amazing carbs in Miami. When I got back on Saturday, I decided to keep the carb bus going and made it a Domino's night. I am a pizza snob but I will put a Dominos Medium Pepperoni Pan Pizza up in the 7 range of scores (using Portnoy’s scoring system). Unfortunately, this one was more in the 5 range which was disappointing (lack of consistency is a problem at Domino's). Because I stayed on the carb bus on Saturday, I decided to finish out the weekend in Land of the Carbs at my niece’s birthday party (fried chicken, sub sandwiches, and cookie cake were some of the culprits). Back to that carb free life on Monday but my transgressions took me back up to 156 points (how the f*ck did I gain six pounds lol) at my Sunday weigh in. Good news is I am back to 151 but that means I only lost 7 pounds in April which is disappointing.
Update on AppLovin? Still NOT live, their team is not as responsive as I would have hoped on getting this pixel issue resolved. Maybe next week…
The Hidden Danger in Term Sheets: Why Startup Founders Lose Control Without Realizing It
I walk through the 5 clauses of danger when raising money in this hot take on “raising vs bootstrapping”. It was fun to work on as we went deep on the topic on ASOM Ep 23.
Gymshark has just released its 2024 financial results.
Drew Fallon on X went through Gymshark’s 77 page 2024 financial results and broke it down pretty well, It’s a good thread. Catch all the details here.
Mark Zuckerberg just shocked the world on Theo Von's pod.
If you missed The Zuck on Theo Von, Fernando Cao does a great summary and clips up the most interesting moments. Grab your headphones and get the scoop here.
What does "made in the USA" even mean?
I guess I really found some gems on X this week, but this last one is good too.
Regardless of what you think of Sean Frank (and Bryan hurting his feelings), he drops a great thread on “Made in USA”. Here is a post about it.
